6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon

So everyone has heard of 6 degrees of separation and if you haven't it basically means that everyone in the world is some how connected to everyone else. Now we here at ISYSMovies can't claim this brilliant game however we can teach you how to play... 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

This game is great with a big group or as a car trip game- trust me I've played many hours of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

We all know Footloose star Kevin Bacon (If not you'll learn about him a bit in the video below.) The saying in hollywood is that EVERYONE is somehow connected to this man.

So the idea of this game is that in 6 steps or less you have to link someone (actors are usually the easiest) to Kevin Bacon. The video below shows you how we managed to connect Teen Singing Idol Justin Bieber.

Enjoy!

Fast Five

Here it is the 5th sequel to the famous, ‘Fast and the Furious’ series. The movie continues the story from the previous 4th film called ‘Fast & Furious’. The story is about Vin Diesels character ‘Dominic’ and his crew back in action still finding themselves on the wrong side of the law facing a Drug lord and a Federal agent highly committed to getting them behind bars. The film has been shot in Rio with few actors returning from the previous movies such as Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Matt Schulze and Ludacris other than Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
The movie has mostly used muscle cars such as the Dodge Charger and the Ford GT40. There are exciting well shot and edited car chases as well as the fighting and battle action.
This movie is not entirely what one would expect from a movie of the Fast and the Furious series. The series started off with Illegal Street racing races which gave the audience excitement and driving thrills and which then later on became all about cars; expecting new cars and racing. Now though the picture is almost completely different. This movie has very little races and not as many new cars like you would expect. The series now has become closer to other action movies with a story and more guns fighting than cars and races.
But while all that is there, the movie still gives you a thrill. You still feel like Jumping in your car right after watching this movie and doing burnouts and speeding, and this is because of the car chases which are very well directed. The story and the action in the movie still keep you locked in the movie and though from the outside the movie may seem different you still get almost the same thrill from the previous earlier movies of the series. The CGI in the film (Computer generated imagery) is also much better than the previous film in which you could clearly tell the areas which were real and which were entirely CGI. In this movie however they are much will designed and applied.
Overall the movie is a must see. It has very good action and car chases and will excite and thrill, the story is not too bad either.

Arthur

Although this was a remake of the original 1981 Dudely Morre Classic, Russell Brand gives this movie the comic touch that just wasnt there with Dudely Moore. We end up likeing the incredibely talented Rusell Brand as he gives us a sense of Aurthers life problems which dont seem to bad. !!!!!.

Plot:
A boozy play boy by the name of Arthur sets to inheret a fortune and doesnt have a worry in the world untill he realizes that he is presented with the ultimatum of being forced to marry someone that he has no feelings for. Instead his mum planes to Set him up with heiress Susan Johnson played by Jennifer Garner.  However Arthur ends up falling in love with Namoi Quinn played by Greta Gerwig and turns to his nanny Hobson played by Helen Mirren when he is made to pick between the ultimate desires love and money.

Overall this is a feel good movie that could do with a better plot however the quality of the supporting actress Helen Mirren and the side character known as Bitterman along with the very Funny Russell Brand makes this an incredibly funny movie. Its definately worth a watch.

The Little Blue Guys Are Coming.....

Due out later this year The Smurfs is set to have kids and adults heading to the cinema to don their 3D glasses and fall in love with the little blue guys all over again. For those of us old enough to remember the smurfs was a cartoon about the adventures of little blue forest creatures living under the guidance of Papa Smurf aka the one in the red hat. The only girl in the village was smurfette who had the long blonde hair and post show became a bit of sex symbol.

From the director of Scooby Doo, the plot is set to go a bit like this:
When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours -- in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down. Written by Columbia Pictures
Hank Azaria as Gargamel

Much like other kids movies Im sure there will be plenty of jokes for the adults- you know the ones that just fly straight over the little ones heads. With a cast including the likes of Neal Patrick Harris and Katy Perry this is set to be a good one or should I say this is going to be
SMURFY!!!

The Social Network.... WOW!

Who would have guessed that a movie about a website could be so amazingly entertaining?!
Its all shot as a flashback to evidence in the lawsuits against Facebook creator Mark Zuckerburg. From Hacking into Harvard's network, right up to Facebook's head office, this movie will have you glued to the screen. Even those who have never actually used Facebook are raving about it. Right from the get go your made to feel like Mark is a bit of a (direct quote) "arsehole" but you've gotta admit the kid has talent and so does the actor who plays him Jesse Eisenberg

Now coming from a girl who used to have "like THE worlds biggest crush" on Justin Timberlake I may sound a little biased when I say he steals the show, but he really does. Playing Sean Parker the inventor of Napster/ mentor to Mark Zuckerburg Justin is awesome! Even if his only contribution to Facebook was "drop the THE. Its cleaner".

Over all The Social Network will leave you wishing you had done something a little more productive with your time other than sitting on Facebook but hey we cant all be 20 something year olds with multi-billion dollar companies....

Dirty Harry (1971)

For those of you who do not know the dirty Harry movies they are an iconic American crime thriller directed by Don Siegel. Clint Eastwood plays the wickedely dangerous and yet humourus cop "Dirty" Harry Callahan whom often forgets how to follow proper police procedure at the best of times making him a force to be reckoned with, hence the name "dirty".

This movie is truly a Hollywood classic, it show cases the best that 1970's San Franscisco has to offer. With Classic cars, long forgotten slang and fashion that will nock your socks off (Flares, Afros, Turtle necks, Male shovernisim, what would you expect!!!!), all set against the backdrop of a  long forgotten time.
The basic plot of this movie involves the very sickening chase for a serial murderer nicknamed the "scorpio" whom kills women in the most gruesom of ways whom leaves gruesom clues for Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwoods character) at every crime scene, the first clue being along the lines of my next victim will be a catholic priest or a worse. ( I know, this movie is not for a young audience).

The cinematics and the way this movie is shot and acted just isnt done in this day and age, it is an older classic style of acting that a younger audience namely Generation Y would not be familiar with, it's a style that is very straight forward and predictable but it is delivered in such a way that it evokes so much emotion that the fact the movie is 40 years old it still stands the test of time and holds up really well, it keeps you guessing untill the end.

The first Dirty Harry movie is perhaps best known for the following scene with Clint Eastwood standing over a scared punk that has just robbed a diner:

"I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

This no noncense straight talking style of acting which Clint Eastwood pulls off so well in Dirty Harry really gives the movie as potrayed in the above scene a dark air, with an undertone of humour. Although we know as the audience that Harry Callaghan, played by Clint eastwood, has a skewed moral compass we end up really enjoying him nail the bad guys, in Clint Eastwood style.

Genre: Crime Thriller (at times can also be a bit of a physological thriller)
Cinematics: old school
Overall rating: Not for the faint hearted ( But this is my kinda movie!! and definately not for a younger audience)

Rio - just another animated movie

Rio is about Blu, a macaw who is the last male left of its species. He meets the bird of his dreams Jewel and together they take off on an adventure in Rio de Janeiro. The movie is from the creators of Ice age and has topped the box office at number one with $40M, beating scream 4, Hop, Soul surfer and Hanna. The movie has created such a big hype because of the excellent graphics and 3D outlook of the movie, which shows Rio de Janeiro as such a breathtaking and beautiful place. In interviews about the movie it is said that the directors and artists have captured Rio de Janeiro exactly how it is for real which is why it is such a good display for people who have never been to Brazil.
The film has various dance numbers with very nice music and the soundtrack is very appealing. In a way it reminded me a bit of the Lion King soundtrack but much more jolly. The cast of this film is very good with character voices done by famous big actors such as Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Leslie Mann, Jamie Fox, Jemaine Clement and many more. Some of the actors, Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway and Jemaine Clement have sung a few songs themselves.
I went to see this movie and while the graphics and the 3D are excellent and amazing it’s not so different from other movies in terms of the storyline. So then what makes this movie so big? The captivating graphics, the 3D, the soundtrack, the various dances in the film and the way the whole movie is made and directed to bring together such a colorful 3D graphical display to entertain. Over all I would recommend this movie as a good watch for a fun-filled 3D experience, not so much for the story which is nothing out of the ordinary.
